Bajji Recipe in Tamil | பஜ்ஜி | Vazhaikkai Bajji

Vazhaikkai Bajji is a perfect tea time snack recipe. This bajji is simple to make with minimal ingredients. It goes well with coconut chutney / tomato chutney. Enjoy hot bhajjis with tea/ coffee.

Ingredients

Besan / Gram Flour - 1 Cup
Rice Flour - 3 Tablespoons
Maida / Plain Flour - 3 Tablespoons
Asafoetida - 1/2 Teaspoon
Baking Soda - A Pinch
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tablespoon
Vazhaikkai / Raw Banana - 2 Nos
Oil - For Frying
Salt - To Taste

Method

In a bowl, add besan, rice flour, maida, salt, asafoetida, chilli powder and baking soda.
Mix the contents well.
Start adding water and keep mixing till you get the consistency of idly batter.
Peel the skin of raw banana and cut them lengthwise into thin slices.
Heat a kadai and add oil sufficient enough for fry.
Once the oil is hot, take a slice of raw banana and dip it well in the batter till it gets coated completely.
Carefully drop it in the oil. Repeat the same process and add 2 more bhajjis to the oil.
Let it get cooked in medium heat.
Flip the bhajjis and let it get cooked well.
Drain the oil and transfer the bhajji to a plate.
Serve hot with coconut chutney.
