Poondu Chutney Recipe in Tamil | பூண்டு சட்னி | Garlic Curry Leaves Chutney

This video shows how to make garlic chutney. This healthy garlic and curry leaves chutney stays good for a week. Tasty green chutney can be served along with idly, dosa or even as a substitue for pickle.

Ingredients


Urad dhal - 1.5 Tablespoons
Garlic - 100 Grams
Curry Leaves - A Handful
Red Chillies - 3 Nos
Tamarind - Small Lemon Sized
Salt - To Taste
Sesame Oil - 2 Tablespoons

Method

Peel the garlic and keep it ready
Heat a kadai, add 1.5 tablespoons of oil. When the oil is hot, add urad dhal and fry till it turns into golden brown colour. Transfer it to a plate.
In the same oil, fry the red chillies and keep it aside.
Add garlic and fry till it turns into nice golden colour. Transfer it to a plate.
Add curry leaves and fry till it turns crispy. Add tamarind and fry for a minute. 
Allow the contents to cool down completely.
In a mixer jar, add the urad dhal and grind it coarsely.
Add all the remaining ingrdients, add required salt and grind it to a smooth paste.
Heat a pan and add little oil. Add the chutney to the oil and cook it for 3 minutes by mixing it inbetween. 
Allow it to cool down. This chutney can be stored in refrigerator for up to a week.
