Okra Curry in Tamil| Vendakkai Puli curry | Vendakkai Pachadi Recipe

Okra can be cooked in many different ways and this vendaikkai curry is one of the yummy recipes. This ladiesfinger pachadi is little tangy and can be served along with rice and sambar.

Ingredients

Ladies finger – 250 grams
Shallot – 10 nos
Tomato – 1 no
Red Chillies/green chillies – 2 Nos
Cumin seeds – ½ Teaspoon
Mustard – ½ Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder – A Pinch
Chilli Powder – ½ Tablespoon
Coriander Powder – ½ Tablespoon
Tamarind – Small amla size
Salt – To Taste
Oil – 1 Tablespoon

Method

Wash the ladiesfinger and cut them into thin slices and let it aside for
30 minutes.
Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard, cumin seeds and red
chillies.
Once it splutters, add the onion and saute them well for couple of
minutes.
Add the chopped ladies finger and cook well for 7 – 10 minutes.
Once the ladies finger is cooked well, add turmeric powder, chilli
powder, coriander powder and mix everything together.
Add tomatoes and mix well. Let it cook for couple of minutes.
Add the tamarind extract and bring it to boil by adding salt and little
water.


Cook till all the water evaporates. Transfer them to a bowl and serve.
