I always have chilli powder and coriander powder separately so that I can add them in required proportions. For sambar I used to add less coriander powder and for karakuzhambu I will add more coriander powder. I always prefer to make sambar podi at home rather than readymade sambar podi from the stores.
This podi varieties can be used in as per requirements for the recipe. All sambar and kuzhambu varieties that are prepared using this homemade masala podi tastes great. This chilli powder and coriander powder can be used together to make restaurant style tiffin sambar that can be served with idly, dosa, rava dosa and pongal as well.
